pHd Malvern’s hair and beauty picks of the Month

May 4, 2015

Just as we reshuffle our wardrobes or clear out our homes we should also consider changing our hair and beauty routines, colours and styles as the seasons change.

The team at pHd Malvern have put together their favourite hair and beauty products for May 2015.

Fuente’s Roller Skate

Senior Stylist, Jordan, adores Roller Skate…no not the wheeled variety, Fuente’s amazing volume spray with heat protection.

This excellent styling and finishing spray can be used on wet or dry hair. The orange oil promotes shine and lavender oil nourishes making Roller Skate an excellent addition to your hair care routine.

Not only does it protect your hair when blow drying or using rollers, but the volume boosting formula means you can create fantastic styled or natural looks depending on your mood.

No need for sticky fingers either, simply spritz it onto hair at the roots and ends. Less is definitely more and Jordan recommends just 5 sprays for average hair and 7-8 on longer locks.

moroccan_clay_mask_john_mastersJohn Masters’ Moroccan Clay Purifying Mask and Rose & Aloe Hydrating toning Mist

This month Sophie is recommending John Masters’ Moroccan Clay Purifying mask followed by Rose & Aloe Hydrating Toning Mist.

Sophie advises using the Moroccan Clay mask once a week to draw out any impurities in your skin and repair damage from acne or signs of ageing leaving your skin feeling soft with a healthy glow and prepared for anything.

To get the most out of this excellent product, dampen your face and spread the mask evenly over the skin then relax for around 20 minutes to allow the mask time to work. Remove carefully with a warm flannel.

Follow up with the Rose and Aloe Hydrating and Toning Mist which will close the pores that have been opened, hydrating your skin. The tea extract protects skin from oxidative cell damage leaving your skin feeling fresh and revitalised, perfect for this time of year!

Spring Make-up Favourites

Senior Stylist, Yaz, has put together a look that is perfect for Spring and can easily be adapted for daytime or evening wear using the fab Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics range.

Face: Start with Minerals in the Mist (‘Refresh’ is Yaz’s favourite for this time of the year). Then dab Eye Impact on the cheek bones and brow bone. Don’t need to place it too close to the eye as the skin is quite thin in this area and will absorb it nicely. Follow up with Mineral Primer and use either Moisture Tint for a dewy, light finish or Liquid Mineral Foundation for a slightly fuller coverage.

You can also use the Ultimate Conceal (before or after applying your foundation) to disguise any blemishes or dark circles under the eyes. Lightly dust Sundance in a figure of 3 motion on either side of the face, starting above the eyebrow, bringing it onto the cheeks and finishing along the jaw bone.

Apply ‘Sherbet’ in Mineral Crushed Blush to the apples of the cheeks, Yaz’s hot tip is to smile whilst applying as this will help you work out where to place the colour. Set everything in place with Mineral Rice Setting Power.

Eyes: Start by using the matte side of the Eye Illuminating Duo Pencil across the eyelid and up to the brow bone and then gently blend it in using a clean finger. This will help to keep your eyeshadow in place all day long and really make the colours pop.

Sweep ‘Moonstone’ from either the Starlet Eyeshadow Quad or Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad across the lid and into the inner corners of the eye. Then apply either ‘Black Opal’ from the Starlet Eyeshadow Quad or ‘Raven’ from the Crushed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad to the outer corners of the eye and along the crease. Blend the two colours using a fluffy blending brush. Apply the Eye Illuminating Duo Pencil again this time along the lower water line and Lagoon Gel Liner lightly to the lower lash line. Finish up with Blackout Mascara.

Lips: Use a moisturising lip balm (I’d recommend the Hydrating Lip Crème – SPF 15) to prep the lips and then apply either ‘Coral Beach’ Lipstick for a subtle spring lip or ‘Tangelo’ Lipstick if you’re feeling a little daring!

All the products are from our fantastic Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics range and we can supply all everything needed to create this look. You can also book a Makeup Consultation with either Yaz or Jadee to match up your correct foundation colour for just £10.50 (redeemable when you by any Youngblood products) or book in for a makeup lesson for £26.00-£33.50 depending on how long you need.
